A place which rests in nature, offering a mature roof for protection and a open floor space for intellectual and spiritual flows. Upashray means in Jain Religion a place for monks to rest, stay, meditate and worship . Located in Manipur, the outskirt of Ahmedabad, the building is an extension for an existing Temple to host monks and offers a flexible worship space for the community apart of the Mandir itself. Creating a building which reflects openness and transparency and still protection and tradition, the strong roof on top of an transparent facade with the use of recycled old traditional doors is bringing all aspired aspects together.
